Gig Harbor day trip from Seattle

70-min drive each way via I-5 South. Tacoma Narrows Bridge is the scenic moment. Here's the full plan.

Driving directions from Seattle

Take I-5 South for ~30 min, then WA-16 West across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Total: 70-90 min depending on traffic. Skip rush hour both directions.

Where to park

Park free at Skansie Brothers Park (3211 Harborview Dr). 70+ free spots, walk to everything from there. If full, the marina lot at 8809 N Harborview Dr is also free.

The 8-hour plan

Follow our standard Gig Harbor day-trip itinerary with a 10:30 AM arrival. If you want to make a full day of it, add these Seattle-specific stops:

What to bring

The mistake to avoid

Don't try to combine Gig Harbor with Mt Rainier National Park as a single day trip from Seattle — they're 90 min apart, and you'll spend the whole day driving. Pick one. (For Mt Rainier, do an overnight in Ashford or Packwood.)

Want to make it a weekend?

Stay at The Maritime Inn (4.8 ★, downtown waterfront, ~$200/night) or The Waterfront Inn (4.7 ★, slightly cheaper, ~$170/night). See the 2-day weekend itinerary for the full plan.
